The Songshan Lake Materials Laboratory, The Institute of Physics (Chinese Academy of Sciences), and the IOP publishing are pleased to announce the launch of a new, open access journal Materials Futures.

The journal focuses on publishing original works, perspectives, and review articles in all areas of basic and applied materials science and technology. It aims at establishing a unique international platform to promote scientific exchange and collaborations. Of particular, the journal encourages authors to provide a Future Perspective on the future risk-and-breakthrough outlooks of their respective research field and where the field is heading toward in general.

Materials Futures' peer-review process is streamlined and is overseen by a panel of international experts. It will ensure a fair and rapid publication experience. The journal's large editorial and scientific advisory boards are interdisciplinary and multinational, reflecting the broad research community the journal will serve. The journal is open access. All articles are published under a Creative Commons license and will be freely available worldwide immediately upon publication.
